Only years, months, and days left until the end of the challenge!

Sorry I've been MIA lately...

I started the "spring training" regimine at my gym on May 1. Premise is, you weigh in and measure and then work out 14 times by May 28. You get weighed and measured again, and a free t-shirt for participating. I've gotten 6 workouts in to date, and will have 7 after Saturday.

Unfortunately, increased stress and consumption of fast food has wreaked havoc on aspects of my health that were considered excellent before. For example, my total cholesterol went from 174 to 225 in 6 months. Although my good cholesterol is still excellent, my bad cholesterol isn't. Not good. And my blood sugar is out of whack, too. My doc told me that elevated cholesterol has a direct impact on your blood sugar. These are two things I'm working on now to get under control. Easier said than done--but starting by cutting out ALL fast food. Since I never fry things at home, I'm positive that this is where the majority of my problems are stemming from. I'll keep you guys informed if it's a success.

My company is particiapting with Anthem Blue Cross in the Walking Works program. Essentially, self-selected teams work together in a friendly competition to see who can walk the most steps in 6 weeks. We are all given a step pedometer, and report to our team leaders every Wednesday (beginning next week). Although I am not on a team with my department, we have chosen to initiate one diet change a week for each of the six weeks of the program. Our first diet change is to eliminate french fries (and other deep fried foods). I'm also the team-leader for my team, the aptly named "Sweaty Betty's". :)

Hopefully, this program combined with my continued gym visits will be helpfull to jump starting my weight-loss again. Of course, this same challenge can be extended to the BBL participants. If anyone wants to participate, we can pick a starting date and a check in date, and everyone can post their progress. Let me know if anyone is interested!

Hope that everyone out there is still doing good and sticking to their healthy choices!

Hey, all, can I join? I've got about 50 pounds to lose and I need someone to be accountable to. Help!
