Where the heck have I been?
Busy. Only excuse. I have been busy with getting my house company ready, and baking cookies, and squares and bars and what not. Not eating them.... well not much of them. *L*
I don't have a computer at my house, well I have one, it's just not a functioning computer, and I haven't had the time to get to one lately. I *have* been walking as much as possible. The fresh air is wonderful for both Kemper and myself. I'm sitting back at 159 right now, and I'm going to do what I can to get down to 150.
It will be and interesting battle. Me vs. 9 pounds and the holiday season. I can do this. *thumbs up*
Anybody wanna do a challenge this week? I know it's a little late, but 1 pound by Monday?? Anyone?
Good luck to all!
See ya's soon!

Fat Burning Soup
Something I came across on internet, I was searching for this soups recipe and I have heard that it is very effective. Besides, my weight loss is very slow these days since I am a stress eater and during my exams I lose my patience. I yet have to lose 6 kg. Do post any good recipes and diet plan you come across or just email me.
croc_cronicles@hotmail.com
I will start this plan tomorrow and will let you know about the progress :)
This diet is derived from one given at the Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital for overweight heart patients to lose weight rapidly, usually before surgery. Ed Kasper L.Ac, Acupuncturist and Herbalist have added modifications.
Ingredients:
Large green onions
1-2 pounds of sliced tomatoes
Kombu Seaweed large piece
Garlic 4 cloves
large red onion
2 green peppers
large head of cabbage
1 bunch celery
1 hot pepper (your choice)
shitake mushrooms
plenty of fresh pure clean water
Soup Stock: Chicken, beef, Pork or Vegetable
spices for flavoring added last 20 minutes and simmered
rosemary
sage
parsley
tarragon
thyme
Cut vegetables in small to medium pieces, sauté in olive oil & cover with water. Boil fast for 10 (ten) minutes. Cut to simmer & continue cooking until vegetables are tender. This soup can be eaten any time you are hungry. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want. This soup will not add calories. The more you eat, the more you will lose. Fill a thermos in the morning if you will be away during the day. If eaten alone for indefinite periods, you would suffer from malnutrition.
Drink plenty of fresh pure water all day. Drink 1/2 of your body weight in ounces of water. If you weigh 100 pounds then drink 50 ounces of water.
DAY ONE: All fruits except bananas. Cantaloupe and watermelon are lower in calories than most fruits. Eat only the soup and fruits. For drinks - un-sweetened tea, cranberry juice, or water.
DAY TWO: All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with all the fresh, raw or canned vegetables. Try to eat leafy vegetables and stay away from dry beans, peas and corn. Eat along with the soup. At dinner time on this day, reward yourself with a big baked potato an butter. Do not eat any fruits.
DAY THREE: Eat all soup, fruits and vegetables you want. Do not have a baked potato. If you have eaten for three days, as above, and have not cheated, you will find you have lost 5-7 pounds.
DAY FOUR: Bananas and skim milk. Eat as many as 3 bananas and drink as many glasses of water as you can on this day along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates and so is the milk, but on this particular day your body will need the potassium and the carbohydrates, proteins and calcium to lessen your craving for sweets.
DAY FIVE: Beef or lamb and tomatoes. Try to select high quality range fed animal protein free of antibiotics or hormones. You may have 10-20 ounces of beef or lamb and a can of tomatoes or as many as 6 fresh tomatoes on this day. Try to drink at least 6-8 glasses of water this day to wash away the uric acid in your body. Eat the soup at least once this day. You can substitute either wheat gluten (seitan) for the beef or lamb or aduki beans, chicken or fish.
DAY SIX: Beef or lamb & vegetables. Eat to your heart's content of the beef or lamb and vegetables this day. You can have two or three steaks if you like, with green leafy vegetables, but no baked potato. Be sure and eat the soup at least once today. You can substitute either wheat gluten (seitan) for the beef or lamb or aduki beans, chicken or fish.
DAY SEVEN: Brown rice, un-sweetened fruit and vegetables. Again, stuff yourself. Be sure to have the soup at least once today.
By the end of the seventh day, if you have not cheated on the diet, you will have lost 10-17 pounds. If you have lost more than 15 pounds, stay off the diet for two days before resuming the diet again for day one.
This seven-day eating plan can be used as often as you like. As a matter of fact, if correctly followed, it will clean your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being as never before.
After only seven days of this process, you will begin to feel lighter by at least 10 lbs., and possibly 17. Having an abundance of energy continue this plan as long as you wish and feel the difference.
This diet is fast, fat burning and the secret is that you will burn no more calories than you take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well being. This diet does not lend itself to drinking alcoholic beverages at any time because of the removal for fat buildup in your system. Go off the diet at least 24 hours before intake of alcohol.
Because everyone's digestive system is different, this diet will affect everyone differently. After day three, you will have more energy than when you began, if you did not cheat. After being on the diet for several days, you will find your bowel movements have changed -- eat a cup o bran or fiber. Although you can have black coffee with this diet, you may find that you don't need the caffeine after the third day.
DEFINITE NO-NO'S - BREAD, ALCOHOL, CARBONATED DRINKS INCLUDING DIET DRINKS.
STICK WITH WATER, UN-SWEETENED TEA, BLACK COFFEE, UN-SWEETENED FRUIT JUICES, CRANBERRY JUICE AND SKIMMED MILK.
The basic fat-burning soup can be eaten anytime you feel hungry. Eat as much as you wish. Remember, the more you eat, the more you will lose. No fried foods or bread. You can eat broiled chicken (absolutely no skin) instead of beef. Vegetarians can use aduki or mung beans, seitan.
Any prescribed medication will not hurt you on this diet. Continue this plan as long as you wish and feel the difference both mentally and physically. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef on only one of the beef days. You need high protein in the beef the other days.
One of the best herbal formulas to use during this fast is Triphala. Take from 2 to tablets morning and midday and 4 in the evening. Instead of coffee or tea use a grain beverage. A very good fasting tea is a combination of nettles, chickweed and fennel seed which also helps in weight reduction. There are many excellent green drinks and soya protein powders that can be used to supplement as needed and replace meat.
To keep the weight off, replace one meal a day with soup, eat more vegetables.
Finish each meal with a bowl of soup.
Avoid all those no-no's. Avoid diet soda's and diet chemicals. Use real butter not the hydo stuff.
Eat good wholesome foods that are well prepared and that appeal to you.
Be Happy.

Thanksgiving
I like this article from Diet Bites:
Oh my, it's Thanksgiving again! Didn't we just do that yesterday? We could affirm that we had this holiday not more than 364 days ago! And here it is, AGAIN, trotting all over our diet - virtually smearing us in turkey 'basting butter' and candied yam syrup.
So what's a dieter to do? Don a paper bag and ignore the festivities? Survive the Thanksgiving hullabaloo via bread (minus the cranberries) and spring water?
Now comes the tricky part. Tom and I are here to motivate and support you, right? We imagine that the majority of online sites will provide all of these glorious tips to 'get you through the day'. You'll find recipes for plenty of unappetizing appetizers like 'Turkey on Rice Cakes' and 'Imitation Crabmeat on Imitation Crackers'. (Bet you can't wait to eat that one. Actually, it sounds a bit fishy to us.) Then there are those really far out tips like, "Use the flimsy paper plates so you won't be tempted to overfill." Please.
On the other hand, if we turn and look the other way and give you the go ahead to run amuck among the crystallized glasses filled with shimmering happy water and massive calories, and the gilded bowl of over-sugared cranberries, it'll be 'all our fault' because someone gained 52 pounds during the festivities. So, it's best if we don't encourage our readers to go ape with the holiday goodies.
HOWEVER, and that's a very big and loud however, it's the holidays for goodness sake! And though we don't need to be reminded, we have learned how swiftly tragedy can touch our lives. Thanksgiving, and we're talking about the officially allotted Thursday, is just one day of celebration. Yes, some of us tend to take the party into the rest of November, through December, then on through Valentine's Day. However, with a little savvy and a lot of willpower, you CAN get through the holidays without pounding on pounds!
How you say, especially with Aunt Martha's grand old fifteen-layer coconut cake staring you in the face? You know the one; it's topped with three jars of maraschino cherries and enough pecans to make four fruitcakes with. And don't forget the filling, made and fully saturated with Aunt Martha's secret recipe that everyone knows contains five cartons of whipping cream.
Okay, it's the moment you've been waiting for and we can just picture you sitting there reading this, on the very edge of your seat! So, with an imaginary drum roll, let's hear Tom's and Sky's Turkey Tips!
1. Enjoy Thanksgiving Day to the fullest for it may not come again HOWEVER,
2. Try to eat a bit of something before you get the jitters. Waiting for the big bird to get done can be a trying game of wit vs starvation. By putting a little something into your tummy, you're insuring that you won't go wild with those spuds and yams come mealtime.
3. Think of some other ways to celebrate throughout the day than just relying on food. Try playing a game of Scrabble using only healthy words. Trade recipes with friends and family and as you're jotting them down, think of how you can make them into healthier concoctions.
4. Bring something to the feast that's healthy, something like a fruit salad or a Waldorf salad. Here's a quick recipe for Waldorf that won't inflict one ounce of guilt:
Apples - peel and discard the peel, slice thin and sprinkle with a bit of lemon to keep the brown ruffles away.
Celery - strip off the strings and slice into tiny bits
Pecans or walnuts - Just a few will do.
Miracle Whip - Use either the light or the nonfat variety.
That's it! Simple, yet delicious! You can add some golden raisins if you wish, or experiment!
5. If you're on a diet, try to remember how hard you've worked to lose the weight. Think before you eat. Once it's in your mouth, it's too late!
6. Limit yourself to one plate and a couple of desserts.
7. If your Thanksgiving meal was around lunchtime, then eat a very light dinner, or forego altogether. Tip: Most weight gains are experienced by eating late in the day. Dinner should always be your lightest meal - always!
8. Don't kick yourself if you 'accidentally' go wild for the day. Move on. Make this year the last, final, end-of-the line diet that you'll ever be on!
9. Keep in mind that it's much easier to gain ten pounds than it is to lose ten pounds. You can rarely burn off more calories than you're capable of putting inside of you when you're on a binge.
10. If you overdo, do not allow this eating behavior to flow over into the next day, and the next day, and the next day.
Happy Holidays to all of our wonderful readers!

holidays and vacation
I am on vacation--and not on a diet. I'm not binging, but I am consuming quite a few carbs. When I get back home next week, i'll work harder on getting my life back in order. Until then...I'm going to be a fat and happy girl.

Hi Everyone
Okay first I want to say that despite going to Hawaii I am still at my same weight-which is good. I felt bloated when I was there but I always do when I fly somewhere. Its like I get on the plane and I bloat. Weird.
Second I want to tell Christine what a great job she is doing and third I wanted to ask Bav what Body for life is and why it works so well for her? I am always looking for something that might work for me! I ran in Hawaii and almost killed myself. Too hot to run outdoors. So the next day I ran on the treadmill but its so dang Hot even in the gym-I was sweating up a storm. Its so hard to work out when your on vacation drinking Mai Tais. So I am back to the drawing board. But like I said I at least didn't put on weight! Now if I can just get past the pumpkin pie. I have decided to go for a hike or do something in the morning on Thursday. Just to move. At least it will make me feel better! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

BAV here...
Just wanted to give a quick update. I have been working out harder then ever and loving it! I have started Body for Life and am on my 18th day! I love it.
Took my first spinning class today and it almost killed me. My cheeks are still burning! Best class I have ever taken.
I hope you are all doing well! I will not be ending my program til Jan 24/06 so I will have a different finish date then the rest of you. I guess it took a bit longer for me to get it going and stick to it! Well I have done that now and all on my own. This is the first time EVER, that I have done this on my own and I am loving it! I am so proud of myself.... that is so strange to type. But I am. This is a hard road, but at the end of it will be ONE BUFF MOMMA!
Miss ya all!

New Colors
I lost another 1.5 pounds in one day and I have no idea how I did it. I mean, for the first time since I started this weight loss program 3 weeks ago, I went off my diet for one night and ordered a pizza. A neighbor brought a piece of cake over last night and so I thought I would have gained some weight back - but nope! I am down about 10 pounds now - in 3 weeks. I know that is not a drastic change, but it's better than anything. Now only 33 more to go!
I haven't been working out lately, just eating right most of the time. I am also painting our bedroom - quite the feat!! I sweat a lot doing that! It took me one week to do the room (priming and painting) and now I am priming the bathroom off our bedroom so I can paint that as well. My husband and I took our bed apart (he was the original designer) and sawed off the 4 posts and made the bed lower. I think it's going to make the room look a lot bigger. Anyway, we stained it last night and hopefully we will be back in our own bedroom in a couple of days.
This redecorating thing is very physical and lots of work. I recommend it if you are looking for something intense and fun to do around your house!

Blah...
That's how I'm feeling right now. I'm back up to 160 today... after mashing Combos in my face this morning... great snack, huh? Fake powdered cheese in a breadstick crust... it just shouts "unhealthy" food... I'm getting bummed about having to go back to work. It's only a little over 3 months away, and I'm starting to seriously trip out about it. Not just the going back to work, and starting shift work (which I haven't done for almost 5 years), but leaving Kemper with someone besides his dad or his grandparents. I'm feeling serious anxiety. It's making me want to freak out, and I know that by feeling this way, I'm not going to get the most out of the next 3 and a half months that we have together..... Holy... that was a serious rant with mostly nothing to do with my weight loss, other than not feeling motivated to do much physical stuff while I sit around and feel sorry for myself...
Well, I'm gonna do my best to keep my chin up and get over it... lots of people leave their kids in daycare.
Weather is getting pretty chilly up north here in Penetanguishene. We'll bundle the boy up and venture out for our 6 Km this afternoon.
Hope everyone is doing well, and sorry for the non-related stuff!

I Have Been Such A Loser!!
Okay, in both senses of the term- I have been a loser! I feel so bad that I have not checked in for sooooo long! (Especially to my new partner, Mandi!) I am sorry. I have been out of the loop for a while. First it was my birthday, then Halloween, then my family got sick . . . and so on! Still no excuse. But, I am so proud to say that I have also been losing weight!! :) I have still been working out so hard and it paid off. I am now down to 166!! Whoopeee!! :) So, as I go into the holidays, I just wanted to let you all know that I am still alive and trying - and, I need the support of this blog more than anything!! I miss you guys!! :)

just checking in...
I spent the weekend house sitting for my parents, and I ate alot of junk-food. (or at least what I consider junk food). Interestingly enough, the potato chips, cookies, candy, and loaf of soft squishy white Sunbeam bread didn't hold my attention very long. Instead, I was cooking and eating the frozen corn from their garden this summer, baked fish fillets, and the left over meatloaf my mom made for me. I'm not saying I didn't eat some potato chips, cookies, candy, and white bread (but only 4 slices in the course of 3 days!), but i found myself reaching for a granola bar, instead.
On another note, I made an appointment to see an endocrinologist at the suggestion of both my mom and my personal trainer. Since I have been exercising, and I have eliminated consumption of fried foods and limit my white flour intake, my weight should be dropping--not stagnating. Instead, I keep gaining and losing the same 4 lbs. Although I don't want there to be anything wrong with me, deep down inside, I kind of HOPE there is--just so that I have an explanation for why I'm having such a hard time with my weight.
Last night, I did a full 30 minutes @ level 4 on the elipitical (my trainer suggested to cut down on distance and work on maintaining a consistant heart rate), so I only got 2.78 miles done.I think I'm ready to push it up to level 5--but maybe i'll wait till next week. I also did a full set of weight training.
Anyways, that's all.

Gym Away From Home
My husband and I are staying at his parents place while they are in Mexico. His mother said that we could use her free gym passes while we are here so I used one yesterday. I was on the treadmill for 45 minutes (with a 5% incline and set at 3.9 speed). What a work-out! I was sweating just from THAT! Then I did some leg machines and an hour and a half later I decided to call it a day.
I thought I would feel the pain in my legs this morning but NOTHING. Perhaps I need to push myself even more! My husband and I had a small piece of pork and a small portion of salad. Then we had sugar-free jello...mmmmm! I am hoping he and I can go to the gym again tomorrow before we start putting up Christmas Lights!
We are going to a GAMES NIGHT at my friend's place tomorrow night. I wonder if I will be able to resist the cheezies and nachos....we'll see!
Good Luck y'all!

Wow.... November already
Hi Girls.
Just droppin in to say hello. Been enjoying the wonderful Fall weather we're getting as much as possible the last couple of weeks. Walking where ever we can. The walking is making up for the taste's and lick's following Hallowe'en.
Our pictures went awesome on Saturday. I am, and was feeling quite good about myself, and beside actually losing the weight, that is one of my main goals. I have one of the polaroids the photographer took, if I can scan it, I'll post it.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Halloween
Monday, I ate 4 cookies at work and was so guilt-trodden, I went to the gym and did 40 minutes on the elipitical machine, along with a full weight training session. (Yes, I am up to 40 minutes!)
Tuesday, I ate 1 cookie and licked the frosting off another one (but threw the cookie away), but also had french fries at lunch (the first in a very long time). I didn't exercise last night because Tuesday is my off day from the gym. I also had a flu shot yesterday, and my arm was a little sore. Yeah, that's it..my arm was sore.
I did not binge on halloween candy as I have in years past. I did not buy halloween candy. I did not go to the store for something and happen to pick up some candy on clearance "because it's such a good price". I had two small candy bars that were sent to me by one of my companies locations in Texas.
Last Saturday, I bought a box of Little Debbie Fudge Rounds, and I still have some left (yay, me!). Yay, because I didn't sit down and devour the box in two days.
Instead of going out to dinner and socializing tonight, I will go to the gym and repeat my workout from Monday, since I will be out of town Friday-Sunday. I am not going to give in and go to dinner at the Mexican restaurant no matter HOW BADLY I would love to have a nice margarita and some salty tostada chips, because, frankly, the past two weeks have been really bad.
I will be happy with my peanut butter on 9 grain bread sandwhich and diet ginger ale for lunch (though I might sneak in a tiny bag of vending machine doritos). Man, I'm confessing to things I haven't even eaten yet!
laterness....

Halloween Hero
So I made it through my first Halloween without eating one piece of candy! As a matter of fact, I have been somewhat stomach-sick for a couple of days now so perhaps that is the reason I went undefeated. In any case, I have not lost anymore weight so far, but I think I can contribute some of that yielding to the weather outside. It has been raining for days now - which makes it difficult to go for my daily walks. I told my husband today, however, that I want to go tonight with or without him. I really need to get my butt in gear!
I thought I would submit a goal picture of me. I want to look like this again!

What's the damage? (Post Halloween)
Alright guys - time to fess up and get going straight if you slipped up yesterday. If not, congratulations!
I went up a pound but it wasn't because of candy. I had 2 hot dogs for lunch and some fatty chicken parmesean for dinner. I did walk over 13,000 steps while trick or treating though, which probably kept me from worse damage.
My free trial for Calorie King ran out and I didn't have the money to buy the full version for a few days. I still managed and now have the full version forever and ever. LOL. This tool totally keeps me on track.
You can read my post at my blog today if you want to know how my Halloween went. I've basically gotten rid of as much of the candy as I can. My only sin yesterday was a few small packets of Swedish fish.... Today I alloted myself 3 pieces of chocolate which are entered into my Calorie King program. I'm still on track!
The days are ticking away! Whose still with me?
